The rules: Always be sure your dog is well walked before you head out
for your day of adventure. Never leave home without a pooh bag and paper
towels. The City of San Francisco regulations dictate "that dogs must
be leashed at all times when not on their owner's property."

One of the best ways to get a feel for San Francisco's unique neighborhoods
is to stroll along its shopping streets, taking in the unique store
windows, charming sidewalk cafe's, or just hanging out to people-watch.

Walking
Tour -- Rachel Heller @ (415) 221-8442 will guide you through the
history of the "Haight" --from the Victorian era to the "Flower Power"
summer of love -- during a 2-hour tour starting at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday-Saturday.
There is an admission fee for humans but dogs are free -- as long as
they are well-behaved and leashed.
Cruise
the Haight on your Own -- If a tour isn't your thing, create your
own adventure by sauntering through this quirky little neighborhood
with its colorfully painted Victorians (along Masonic, Piedmont & Delmar
Sts.). You'll find vintage clothing shops, book and record stores, and
innovative restaurants. Look up the homes of former residents: Janis
Joplin @ 112 Lyon Street or the Grateful Dead @ 710 Ashbury Street.
TwentyForth Street --
Take a leisurely cruise along 24th St, situated in the heart of the
Noe Valley, there are lots of shops, restaurants and cafe's,many of
which will welcome your dog.
I bark, you bark, we all bark for pups cup! On a hot day while you
and your human are cruzin the strip in Noe Valley stop by the Fountain
of Youth ice cream parlor which offers: cones, floats, shakes, sodas,
and sundaes, as well as espresso drinks and a goodly selection of cookies
and brownies and such. But the high point on this menu is a concoction
especially for dog owners who've always felt guilty about eating ice
cream in front of their pleading, panting pooch. It's the Pup Cup -
a scoop of dog-safe vanilla ice cream (no chocolate) surrounded
