Washington Square -- Nestled between Columbus, Union, Stockton or Filbert in North Beach, this park is a great place to hang out with a leashed pet. Grab an ice cream at nearby Ben & Jerry's and enjoy the trees, grass and sunshine -- or just people watch. Lots of nearby cafes and restaurants but parking is a b----!! Take muni or walk. (415) 831-2700.

Aquatic Park -- Between Hyde & Polk St. on Beach Street. Dogs must be leashed and are not allowed to play on the "little" beach. Great views, grassy field, flowers, pine trees and benches. Some parking available on Polk St. near the Hyde St. pier.

George Sterling Park -- Located on Larkin between Greenwich St. and Lombard, in the heart of Russian Hill, there are lots of trees, giving you the feeling of being in the woods. (Teach your dog to fetch pine cones!) Benches are placed along the paths so you can sit to enjoy the fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin hills. Don't leave the area without exploring the neighborhood restaurants and shops, just a few blocks away.
